Ecosystems Self-Assemble: Preview of Dirk's SAF/CIF "Restore the Land" Presentation
Next week Brinkman Group co-founder, CEO and self-taught forest scientist, Dirk Brinkman will join North America’s leading Forest wizards, at the largest Forest Science Research conference in the world. As an honorary member of CIF he is attending the SAF/CIF (Society of American Foresters/Canadian Institute of Foresters) Conference and the IUFRO (International Union of Forest Research Organizations) Congress next week in Salt Lake City, Utah. Dirk was the first non RFP (Registered Forest Practitioner) to win the Canadian Forestry Achievement Award in 1998 for “Recognition of individuals who have made unique and outstanding achievements in the field of forestry.” He has been invited as a keynote speaker to debut his new talk, “Restore the Land.” Here is a preview:
”The dynamic relationships between species that compose an ecosystem self-assemble into interdependent systems as soon as they are introduced. A shock to the system disassembles the relationships, and perhaps destroys some key species, but gentle interactions reassemble them. This can be done quickly but must always be done consciously and carefully. That is the way ecosystems self-regenerate. Yes we have to do our part, and the difficult thing should not be to get over the despair that the system is perturbed, but to calmly, mindfully look at the system to see what is needed to permit to re-assemble and let it grow back to health.”
Dirk will have a blast!
