The Coastal BC Division of Brinkman & Associates has more than 35 years of experience in the specific ecologies and logistics of the area. Services in this division are focused on the core silviculture activities of planting, brushing, spacing, pruning and girdling. This division has particular expertise in plantation browse control and fertilization, supported by the Seedling Care division, which provides a wide range of products for these services. Many of the services in this area are provided to long-term clients with whom Brinkman & Associates or its subsidiaries have 20 years or more of history. The provision of integrated services is a focus of this division, providing treatment planning, seedling logistics and data integration with client systems.
The Brinkman & Associates' Coastal BC division has been a pioneer in the provision of services that integrate cost effective silviculture and ecological restoration into a single package. Crews are trained in microsite specific multi-species planting, component and fill planting, variable density planting, and other specialized techniques adapted to the variable retention logging and ecologically sustainable logging practices of our clients. Many of the projects are in remote areas with complex logistics necessitating the efficient use of boats, barges, and helicopters.
Development of successful silviculture joint ventures with native communities has been a focus over the past 10 years. These working relationships have been very successful in engaging the local native community in the silviculture industry. This engagement ranges from simple employment opportunities to broad business level partnerships that draw on Brinkman & Associates' 35 years of experience.
The silviculture survey crew has more than 10 years of experience in field data collection and prescription development in Coastal ecosystems. The company also has extensive experience with development of native plant and riparian restoration projects and slope stabilization prescriptions in this area.
